Gilmer County Jail Roster
The official public inmate search channel for Gilmer County is the OffenderIndex roster linked from the sheriff's Adult Detention Center page. It is a vendor portal from Eagle Advantage Solutions, but the sheriff's office points to it as the public inmate information path. That makes it the first place to check for a person who may be in the Gilmer County Adult Detention Center.
The roster is built around three public tabs: Current Inmates, Bookings Over Last 24 Hours, and Inmates by Booking Date. The first tab is for active custody. The 24-hour tab helps with very recent arrests. The booking-date tab lets a user search by date range and name. The page source also contains a previous-inmates option, but the public setting hides it, so released-person records should not be treated as a guaranteed online search.
For the official sheriff page that points readers to the inmate portal, see the Gilmer County Adult Detention Center page.

Use Gilmer County Inmate Search
A Gilmer County inmate lookup works best when the search starts with the person's legal name and a clear idea of whether the arrest is current, recent, or older. The portal has no visible login, fee, or CAPTCHA notice in the inspected source. Results are server-paged with a page size of 10, and detail rows are configured to expand after the data loads.
- Open the sheriff-linked Gilmer OffenderIndex roster.
- Use Current Inmates first if the person may still be in the Gilmer County Adult Detention Center.
- Use Bookings Over Last 24 Hours for a new arrest that may not be easy to find in a broader list.
- Use Inmates by Booking Date when the booking date or date range is known.
- Call the jail at 706-635-4625 if the name does not appear or if release, bond, or hold status must be confirmed.
The roster is not a court docket. It can show charge clues, warrant numbers, bond, arrest date and court fields, but formal case filings are handled by the clerk and court system. For the charges that follow an arrest, the court-record path is separate from the custody roster.
Gilmer County Roster Fields
The Gilmer County roster keeps the search form simple. Name boxes appear on each main tab, while the booking-date tab adds date pickers. The published tip on that tab says leaving both date boxes blank can view all inmates. The hidden previous-inmates label should not be used as a promise because the public display is disabled.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Name | Text | Unspecified | Optional name filter on Current Inmates, 24-hour bookings, and booking-date tabs. |
| Last Name | Text | Unspecified | Used with first name or by itself when the exact first name is uncertain. |
| Search | Button | n/a | Runs the active tab search after the portal data loads. |
| Clear | Button | n/a | Clears name fields and resets date boxes on date searches. |
| Select Date Range | Date picker | Unspecified | Start and stop date boxes appear on the Inmates by Booking Date tab. |
| Include Previous Inmates | Checkbox | Not public | Configured hidden in the inspected source, so prior-custody searching is not confirmed. |
Gilmer County Inmate Profile
Gilmer County inmate records in the public roster are configured to show a mix of identifying, booking, bond, charge, sentence, visitation, history, and other tabs. Some fields exist in the vendor template but are hidden by public configuration. That matters because a missing field does not always mean the jail lacks the information. It may mean the roster does not publish it.
| Field or Tab | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | First and last name in the visible row template. |
| Sex, height, weight | Visible demographic fields from the roster template. |
| Arrest Date and Time | The local booking timeline label used by the roster. |
| Days In Jail | How long the person has been held, if the roster data is current. |
| Arresting Officer | The officer field shown in the public row. |
| Total Bond | The combined bond amount visible on the roster row. |
| Charges | Warrant number, counts, statute, description, offense type, and court. |
| Sentence | Warrant number, sentence, and release date when data exists. |
| Other | Inmate ID and age; date of birth and address are configured hidden. |
| Photo | The template has an image area, but public photo retrieval is configured off. |
Note: For a book-in report after release, use the sheriff open-records form rather than assuming the online roster has an archive.
Gilmer County Record Channels
The full access chain matters when an online roster search fails. Current jail custody is checked through OffenderIndex or by phone. Older book-in reports and incident-related records go through the sheriff open-records process. Formal charges, docket entries, pleas, and dispositions are court records. State prison custody moves to the Georgia Department of Corrections. Federal or immigration custody uses national locators.
| Need | Best Channel | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Current Gilmer jail custody | OffenderIndex or jail phone 706-635-4625 | Local jail, recent bookings, bond and charge clues. |
| Released book-in report | Sheriff open-records request | Book-in reports, incident reports, CAD, audio, video, and related sheriff records. |
| Formal court charges | Clerk of Superior Court and Georgia Courts E-Access | Case records after the prosecutor files charges. |
| Sentenced state prisoner | GDC Find an Offender | State prison custody after transfer from county jail. |
| Federal inmate | BOP Inmate Locator | Federal inmates from 1982 to present. |
| ICE detainee | ICE Online Detainee Locator | Current ICE custody and some CBP custody over 48 hours. |
Gilmer County Book-In Reports
The sheriff open-records form cites the Georgia Open Records Act and lets a requester ask to review records or obtain copies. The form lists a book-in report at $2, an incident report at $2, an accident report at $5, CAD pages at 10 cents per page, and retrieval at $21.83 per hour after the first 15 minutes. Audio CDs are listed at 35 cents per disc and video USB media at $3.95 if available.
Requests may be delivered in person, by mail, or by email as a delivery choice, while the form's submission line says mail to Gilmer County 911 / Addressing, 1 Broad Street, Ellijay GA 30540, or fax 706-635-6911. The form says the Sheriff's Office has three business days to acknowledge receipt and provide a cost estimate. Use the person's name, date and time if known, location, incident type, and a clear description.

Gilmer County Visitation Rules
The current Adult Detention Center page says in-person visitation is no longer offered. Online video visitation is available seven days a week through JailATM, and users must set up an account with the vendor. The older inmate handbook contains dorm-based in-person schedules, but current web page language controls for public-facing guidance.
| Visit Type | Status | Schedule or Access | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public in-person visitation | Not offered | n/a | Current sheriff page supersedes older handbook language. |
| Online video visitation | Offered | Seven days a week | Schedule through JailATM account. |
| Attorney visits | Offered | Any time, day or night | Handbook says attorney visits do not count against family or friend visits. |
Booking and Bond Records
Gilmer County booking starts when an arrested person is accepted into local jail custody. Jail staff create the custody record, control property, and track fields that later appear on the roster. The handbook states that inmates may be searched for contraband, receive issued property, request medical approval for certain items, and seek court-appointed counsel through first appearance or later request.
Bond can be made any time, day or night, for a bondable offense. The handbook describes cash bond or cash fine, property bond using deeded Gilmer County real estate, and professional bonding companies registered with the Sheriff's Office. It also says failure to appear after bond usually leads to a bench warrant with no bond. Confirm holds, detainers, accepted payment details, and release timing with the jail before sending money or arranging transport.
Note: A jail roster bond field is not a release guarantee; a court hold, detainer, or no-bond warrant can keep the person in custody.
State and Federal Inmates
A person sentenced to a Georgia state prison is searched through GDC, not the Gilmer County roster. The Georgia.gov Find an Offender service page says adult offenders may be searched by name, ID or case number, age, and other identifiers, and it directs users looking for county-jail offenders to the county site. GDC warns that photos, if available, display automatically and that written verification should be requested from Inmate Records and Information in Forsyth.
Federal and immigration custody are separate. The BOP locator searches federal inmates from 1982 to present and can return name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. ICE ODLS searches by A-Number or biographical data and does not search minors under 18. No BOP or ICE detention facility was located in Gilmer County, and FCI Gilmer is in West Virginia, not Gilmer County, Georgia.
Gilmer Sheriff App Limits
The Gilmer County Sheriff GA app is documented in the Apple App Store and Google Play listings as a public-safety communication app. The listings advertise crime reporting, tip submission, interactive features, public-safety news, and social media updates. They do not confirm an app-only inmate roster, warrant search, or booking database. Treat the app as a sheriff communication channel unless a live app inspection confirms more.
